The benefit of green tea

December 31, 2011

It is a miracle. People have been drinking green tea as treatment for everything from weight loss to curing cancer to skin problems.

In the 1994 edition of the Journal of National Cancer Institute, the results of an epidemiological study showed that one of the health benefits of drinking green tea is that it can reduce the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women by up to 60%.

The rich presence of catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the reason why green tea has so many health benefits. A powerful antioxidant, EGCG can not only inhibit the growth of cancer cells but can also destroy them without harming healthy cells.

Also another benefit of green tea is its ability to lower down cholesterol levels and improve the ratio between good (HDL) cholesterol and bad (LDL) cholesterol. This is a leading cause of strokes and heart attacks.

Green tea has greater health benefits compared to other Chinese teas like oolong and black tea, which come from the plant Camellia sinensis. What makes green tea different is the process by which it is made. Green tea owes much of its health benefits to how the Camellia sinensis leaves are steamed. The process stops the EGCG health benefit of green tea from oxidizing.

Drinking green tea can allow more calories to be burnt which will result in weight loss. This was proven in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 1999, men who take both caffeine and green tea burn down more calories than men who only take caffeine or a placebo. Many People have embarked on green tea dieting with great success and benefit.

Another health benefit of green tea is its bacteria-destroying properties. The benefit of green tea is that it can help prevent food poisoning and also prevent tooth decay.

Well known for its countless health benefits such weight loss and curing cancer, green tea is a miracle.

Translation Companies: Getting The Best Out Of Your Translators

December 31, 2011

Global trade has necessitated translation to and from many languages of the globe. An intricate process, owning to variations in syntax and construction rules in world languages, translation entails a careful selection of translator and reviewer services.

Since you cant review the quality of a translated document, you can make sure that:

1. The document you are giving for translation is of the best level possible.

2. The team you are paying meets your top notch requirements.

Before handing off:

1. Initiate the spell check and grammar check: An obvious but a completely necessary step. Remember, if your document is error free, there will be fewer translation errors to deal with!

2. Keep a copy of the document with you: This might seem like a superflous suggestion but an excessively enormous number of people forget to do so!

3. In your document: Keep the sentences short and clear and avoid using abbreviations (Say can not instead of cant).

Deciding on the translator:

1. Inexpensive is not best. Your neighbors kid who took a French paper last year might be able to flaunt his French connection but translation is a professional calling. Paying less might turn out to be very costly for you.

2. Choose a service provider who has a large number of years of experience in translating into the language you are seeking.

3. The translator should be a native user of the language and must be conversant with the culture and minutiae of the language he/she is attempting to translate from.

4. The translator should also be able to understand the finer nuances of the language he/she is translating from.

5. Choose a translation company that offers to take the complete project – from translation to editing, proofreading and even desktop publishing.

After handing over

Handing over the document doesnt ensure great translation. Your inputs will be important even after handing over. Time invested here will extract advantages in terms of error free documents of great quality.

1. Make sure you have a detailed discussion about your project with the service provider to explain your requirements and to understand his/her concerns.

2. Be accessible to answer concerns and questions whenever the translator requires you.

Some more things

1. Never press the translator to do a sloppy job. Think through your project well and build in time for assessments and translations properly.

2. Select a good reviewer with the help of your translator.

3. Dont submit a half finished document. Translating corrections and additions can be pricey and may introduce errors.

4. Never try to piece together bits of translated material yourself.

Ensuring the quality of translated documents is as much your responsibility as that of your translator. You can ensure quality by also insisting proofreading and making sure that the numbers, dates and figures are error-free.

You also need to share supporting documents like references and glossaries with your translator to enable him/her to do a better job. Most of all, you must set realistic turn around time for your translators.

Never get lost in translation again! Visit our site for quality translation companies and slang software!

The Top 10 Ways To Grow Your Small Business

December 31, 2011

I started my company (EMJ) from the trunk of my car (and it was a small trunk so thats a small business). I grew EMJ to $375,000,000 in sales prior to selling it to SYNNEX. I am now CEO of a $1 billion business.

Many of our most important customers are small business people. I make a study out of what makes them successful and what pitfalls they need to avoid. From this study, I came up with the following list of the Top 10 Ways to Grow your Small Business:

1 Know yourself. Do a SWOT analysis. What are your Strengths, your Weaknesses, the Opportunities and the Threats? Examine and understand each. In every strength there is a weakness and in every weakness there is a strength (e.g. you are small so lack financial clout, the advantage is by necessity you will be.more creative). The better you know yourself the more successful you will be. By knowing yourself you not only know your areas of opportunity, you know what areas to avoid.

2 Set goals. This sounds almost too simple but many people and businesses do not set goals. Goals can keep you focused on where you want to go and how you need to get there. Set specific measurable goals with timelines and track progress towards them. Set goals in areas that you know you can win (if you did the SWOT in 1, you will know those areas).

3 Grow within profitability. Often I see companies who set the goals like I speak about in point 1 and grow their expenses in anticipation of sales only to find the sales do not materialize at the level they thought. Sell first then add overheads.

4 Sell more to your existing customers. Look at what they buy from other sources that you might be able to sell them. You already have the relationship with your customers. You are already spending the time to service them so your incremental cost is quite low. For example, if you supply them with toner cartridges, it is easy to sell them some printers or other hardware or software.

5 Sell to more customers. You obviously have something worth buying or you would have no customers. What other customers might use this service. Then market and sell to that audience email, mail, fax, advertise, call, visit, etc. Ask your existing customers for referrals. Sell in a larger geographic area. Take the knowledge and systems you have to broader areas. Warning on this the grass is not always greener. It costs more to sell in markets further away. You can lose your advantage.

6 Grow your people. What I have consistently done is to look at what I do and figure out who can do it (in many cases better than I can). By learning to delegate, I have been able to not only grow myself but grow my people and my company.

7 Create a change culture in your company. People need to be told that things change. Yes, I wish for the good old times but without change, we would not grow. There is an expression if you do what you always have done, you will get what you have always got. The Jim Estill variation on this is if you do what you have always done (even if it was successful), you will go bankrupt. Set a goal to do something new every month.

8 As one of my heroes, Thomas Edison said, good things come to those who hustle while they wait. In business, speed wins. Companies and people with a high sense of urgency win. If you do not have this in your company create it. Set deadlines. Set goals. Do it now. This can be one area that small business can beat big business.

9 Focus on learning. People and companies that learn, win. This ties into point 7. You need to be a life-long learner. Spend part of your time on learning. Develop a habit of constant learning.

10 I am a big believer in the good use of time. If you know your goals and focus your time appropriately, you will grow. I study time and constantly polish my time systems.

How Boost Your Chances of Getting Signed With Music Mastering!

December 30, 2011

Getting signed to an established label isnt easy. There are thousands of talented acts out there, all fighting for a few open slots.

This means if you want to be chosen, you cant hold back. Youve got to do everything to make the right impression and stand-out from the crowd.

One of the most vital (yet often overlooked) parts of doing this is professional mastering.

You can think of mastering as the Polish that makes your music sparkle. Its what gives your music the professional, Big label sound by bringing-out the best in it.

And this is vital. Because when the A & R manager has a big stack of demos to go through, he or she is going to give very few of them a serious listen.

Some are going to get dumped on the spot based on first impressions. While, others are going to fail to grab his or her full attention.

Moreover, even if you are the most talented artist on the managers desk, that does NOT mean he or she is going to realize it because your demo just did not stand-out enough when stacked-up against those of better quality.

You see, mastering communicates that youre a serious act and, as a result, encourages those listening to give your music the deep look it deserves.

It does this by:

Making all the sounds cohesive,
Increasing the loudness to grab attention,
Bringing-out the right instruments or vocals in the best amounts,
Helping to eliminate or reduce errors (that can occurr during the recording and mixing),
Plus, much more depending on what you and the mastering engineer feel the songs need.

In other words, mastering gives your music that little extra edge you need to get signed because it allows you to be pictured as a successful act.

And this is what the key to getting signed is all about. The label must see you as an investment that is going to pay-off quickly and easily without a lot of effort.

Mastering paints this picture and helps get you a deal so as many people as possible get to experience your music long into the future.

With that said, you should also keep in mind that there is a world of difference between a professional mastering engineer and an amateur.

A professional knows what to listen for, the exact adjustments that need to be made (as the wrong ones can ruin the music), and has the equipment to do a serious job.

You should not expect a Big label sound by doing it yourself on a home computer or by hiring an amateur who doesnt fully understand the aspects of real mastering.

Sunglasses – why do we wear them?

December 30, 2011

Sunglasses are a special kind of glasses that have been specially darkened to stop bright light from hurting your eyes. When you wear them, the world seems to become a little less bright, which can be a relief on very sunny days. They go all the way back to Roman times, and are especially popular today in the summer and on beaches.

However, shielding their eyes from light is not the only reason that people wear sunglasses. They can also sometimes look good in themselves as a fashion accessory, and people may also use them to hide their eyes from others when they are upset, or on drugs, or dont want people to see their eyes for some other reason celebrities who dont want their photo taken, for example. People with missing eyes or who are blind often wear sunglasses in preference to things like eyepatches.

One word of warning: many people will react badly towards you if you wear sunglasses indoors for no apparent reason, thinking that you are just doing it because you are a poser who wants to make a fashion statement. It can also be dangerous to wear sunglasses in places that arent very bright, as you wont be able to properly see where youre going and may trip over or walk into things.

There are also medical reasons to wear sunglasses, particularly the fact that protecting your eyes from the suns ultraviolet rays can reduce the risk of eye cancer, as well as some eye conditions like cataracts. It is possible to get prescription sunglasses that correct vision like normal glasses while protecting their wearer from the sun at the same time, although these can be expensive.

When you buy a pair of sunglasses, do make sure to check that they offer 100% protection against the suns UV rays, as not all the cheaper models do. Because the sunglasses cause your pupils to widen as they do in the dark, cheap sunglasses can cause huge amounts of UV radiation to enter your eyes, therefore doing much more harm than good.

Fish Oil – Its Health Benefits & Risks

December 30, 2011

As the name implies, fish oil is oil that is removed from the tissues of oily fish and is often recommended as part of a healthy diet program. Many nutritionists recommend that individuals each fish at least once a week, but emphasis must be placed on the importance of avoiding fish that contain certain harmful contaminants. In avoiding predatory fish, such as sharks and others, individuals will prevent the consumption of unhealthy substances which can accumulate due to the fishs predatory lifestyle.

The benefits of fish oil are thought to be many, including a number of experts who believe that its consumption can help to regulate cholesterol. This problem affects many individuals and, if left untreated, can lead to more serious complications. The liver of fish, however, may contain dangerous levels of Vitamin A.

According to the American Heart Association, daily consumption of the proper amount of fish oil can be beneficial for patients suffering from coronary heart disease. In addition, the United States National Institute of Health recommends fish oil for the prevention of cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure. Once again, the institute reiterates the fact that high levels of omega-3 fatty acid intake may increase the risk of dangerous side effects, including a stroke.

In September 2005, Louisiana State University conducted a study that resulted in findings to support a theory that fish oil may prevent the brain from developing cognitive problems that are associated with Alzheimers Disease. This illness, which is common among the elderly, causes an individual to gradually lose his/her memory.

Apart from consuming fish on a daily basis, fish oil is available as dietary supplements and can may be purchased at many locations. In certain cases, fish oil may require a doctors prescription if the product is of pharmaceutical quality. It is important that individuals read the label and/or instructions carefully before using any medication and/or dietary supplement, including fish oil. It is also equally important that individuals inform their doctor of any current health problems and/or medications for which they are currently taking.

This article is to be used for informational purposes only and is not intended to be used as professional medical advice. The information contained herein should not be used in place of, or in conjunction with, a doctors recommendation . Prior to beginning any treatment regimen, including one that involves the use of fish oil, an individual who develops an illness of any type should consult a licensed physician for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Wisdom

December 30, 2011

What is wisdom? But first, what are the conditions that render it desirable, if not necessary, and what is its essential purpose?

Life is a desire to live, and better still a desire to live happily. As we strive to satisfy this desire, we encounter obstacles that complicate or frustrate our efforts. This complication or frustration.amounts to suffering because it stands in the way of satisfaction.

Wisdom is designed to help us cope with this suffering. It is an adaptive product of reason in the face of tough circumstances. Thanks to it, happiness is conceivable and achievable in spite of everything. It is therefore the supreme good.

Actually, religion is a good that many rank equally high, since it serves the same purpose as wisdom, if differently. The difference lies in the way religion and wisdom portray suffering and define the meaning of life.

From the perspective of religion, suffering betrays a state of worldly imperfection that is in contradiction with the human desire for perfect happiness. Consequently, life here below where humans are doomed to suffer is absurd in itself. Or rather, life is meaningful strictly in terms of means to a heavenly end in the great beyond: A life of virtue prepares the way for an afterlife of bliss. The religious believe this in accordance with the teachings of an inspired spiritual leader, who claims to know the transcendental nature of the hereafter.

While personally I cast a skeptical eye on these teachings, I keep my mind open. They are highly suspicious, but the transcendental nature of their object puts them beyond the reach of any discredit based on conclusive evidence.

Anyway, as I see it, wisdom is independent of religion, though it can complement the latter. According to it, life in itself has meaning, despite its imperfection that people can learn to accept. Better still, they can learn to value this imperfection as they realize that perfection, contrary to popular belief, is not infinitely desirable.

Indeed, perfect happiness leaves something to be desired. By definition, it excludes suffering and hence all forms of complication or frustration. It supposes that circumstances are absolutely favorable that is, not tough in any way. Therefore, no effort is necessary while every dream is possible. At first glance, this sounds like the most wonderful situation imaginable, and yet taking another look at it will dispel this illusion.

What strange whim, in the history of humankind, has compelled people from every walk of life to leave their cozy home and embark on risky ventures? Perhaps this whim is not so strange after all. A multitude of conquests have been made for the sheer joy of conquering against great odds. The operative word is pride, accompanied by excitement. To conquest-minded people the infinite ease of heaven entails infinite boredom. To them life together with the struggle that is integral to it is the very thing that perfect happiness leaves to be desired. It is an opportunity to prove courageous and victorious, though it is also a risk of failing painfully.

Happiness is about grasping this opportunity with courage and gaining a victory over the obstacles that stand between us and success in all the activities that most matter to us. This victory is often strenuous and always limited, precarious, and transitory, and we are bound to lose the battle in the end; but that makes the victory all the more precious and worthy of savoring.

When trying to define the activities in which we most care to succeed, we are forced to study our nature to know our purpose. Our growing wise depends on this study and this knowledge, leading to this definition. It begins with an awareness of our animal will to survive, as survival is the foundation on which life, in the truly human sense, is built. The awareness of life in this sense follows. It takes into account both our humanity and our individuality, as members of society with particular tastes and abilities to which a wide range of activities are suited.

The clearer we are about our purpose, the more we can live our lives with determination and passion, and so with a greater chance of succeeding and achieving happiness. The reverse is equally true. It therefore stands to reason that in striving after wisdom we lay the groundwork for success and happiness.

A Better Way To Prepare And Protect America For Catastrophes

December 30, 2011

Contrary to popular belief, the epicenter of the strongest earthquake to ever strike the continental U.S. was not in California, but in Missouri. It was so powerful that it changed the course of the Mississippi River.

Twenty states, including Hawaii and every state that borders the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, face the threat of hurricanes every year.

As the population of the U.S. has swelled, so has the risk of Americans facing a catastrophe, whether it’s a tornado, hurricane, flood or earthquake.

Home values have also increased in areas prone to natural disasters, and many of those homeowners have their net worth tied up in their homes. This puts their biggest financial asset at risk.

Hurricanes Katrina and Rita revealed America is not as prepared for natural disasters as it should be. While we can’t stop them from occurring, we can do a better job preparing and protecting America from their consequences.

National coalitions such as Pro tectingAmerica.org, comprised of emergency management officials, first responders, disaster relief experts, insurers and others, are advocating ideas that would help prepare Americans to deal with the consequences of natural disasters before they occur.

One solution is the creation of privately funded, government- sponsored catastrophe funds. These funds would accumulate money in advance of catastrophes, and would be funded by a portion of the insurance premiums collected by private insurers. At the state level, the funds could cover restoration from local disasters. At the federal level, there could be a catastrophe fund that covers losses.that can’t be covered by one state. Money would not be accessed until needed, and would grow tax-free to help pay for future losses.

Besides catastrophe funds, other solutions could include strengthening first responders, improving building codes, and sensible land use policies.

While a better solution is still in the works, there are some things you can do now to prepare for catastrophes:

• Become familiar with your community’s disaster preparedness plan and develop a plan for your family.

• Prepare an emergency supply kit including a three-day supply of bottled water, nonperishable food, a manual can opener, paper plates, cups, utensils, first-aid kit, flashlight and battery-operated radio with extra batteries.

• Organize documents in waterproof containers. Include financial information, important phone numbers, wills, insurance policies, immunization records and passports.

• Prepare an inventory of your personal property and videotape your household contents.

Profiting from internet home based businesses

December 29, 2011

These days, very few people can ignore the opportunity that the internet offers. Unless you are among the affluent few, internet home based businesses can give you a very large boost in your income. Thus, it is important that you understand how they work and how you can make such businesses work for your benefit.

Internet home based businesses can help you earn a income, and they can help you earn residual income as well. Residual income, of course, is money that you earn for a one-time effort, as opposed to a salary, which you only receive as long as you keep working. Residual income allows you to profit from something that you have already accomplished in the past, such as when an author receives royalties on a book that he has written, even if that book was written twenty-five years ago.

If your concern is earning a salary, you will have no dearth of opportunities online. As long as you have a specialized skill, you should be able to find work. Telecommuting is now an accepted practice for most companies, so take advantage of it. You can sell your personal services on both a salaried basis and a freelance basis, whichever you prefer. Both have their specific advantages and disadvantages, so choose carefully. If you become a salaried employee, for example, you will necessarily have less control of your time, but a more regular income. A freelancer, on the other hand, only gets paid for the work he actually finishes,

If your goal, however, is to earn residual income, then affiliate programs should be an important part of your strategy. Affiliate programs, as you know, are programs that allow you to advertise and sell someone elses goods and services for a commission. Unlike what most people think, however, succeeding in affiliate marketing actually does require work lots of it, at least in the beginning. Finding a good partner merchant and selecting a reasonable compensation package takes quite a bit of research, something that most people are unwilling to do. However, it is very important that you lay the right foundation, so spend some time here and look up what if currently available.

As with every business matter, being able to trust you partner is important, so look up on your partner merchants record. If you know anyone who has done business with them before, be sure to ask them about the experience. You might even sacrifice higher returns with a relatively unreliable company to work with a more established one.

Once you have established a relationship with a suitable partner, all thats left is developing your site. There are many resources on this on the internet, be sure to look them up. Site building software is also available, so check that out if you feel that you need more assistance. As long as you put a good effort into the creation of your site, your internet home based business will flourish, and youll stand a good chance of earning through it for years to come.

Should you trust your analyst? (Part III)

December 29, 2011

The first stage of most decision making in business is gathering data. In most cases the information is collected in the form of words. Once the words are available, the professionals who gather the data perform an analysis of these words, and present the results to the decision maker. Recent scientific research shows that these professionals, most frequently, fail in their analysis of qualitative data. The article includes evidence from a recent scientific study.

A scientific study (Baxt WG, Waeckerle JF, Berlin JA, Callaham ML. Who reviews the reviewers? Feasibility of using a fictitious manuscript to evaluate peer reviewer performance. Ann Emerg Med. 1998 Sep;32(3 Pt 1):310-7) introduced 10 major and 13 minor errors in a fictitious scientific manuscript. The manuscript was sent to all reviewers of the Annals of Emergency Medicine, the official publication of the American College of Emergency Physicians. The Annals has been in print for more than 25 years, and is the most widely read journal in emergency medicine. The work described in the manuscript was a standard double-blind, placebo control study of the effect of the propranolol drug on migraine headaches. The manuscript was reviewed by 203 reviewers. Eighty percent of the reviewers were professors at academic emergency medicine departments, and twenty percent were physicians in private practice.

The analysis of the reviewers’ comments produced the following results. Fifteen reviewers recommended publication. The reviewers in this group missed 82.7% of the major errors and 88.2% of the minor errors. Sixty seven reviewers recommended revisions. The reviewers in this group missed 70.4% of the major errors and 78.0% of the minor errors. One hundred and seventeen reviewers recommended rejection. The reviewers in this group missed 60.9% of the major errors and 74.8% of the minor errors.

According to the table, the 15 professors who recommended publication, on average, missed 82.7% of the major errors, and 88.2% of the minor errors. In other words, the professors missed at least 4 out of 5 errors inserted in the manuscript. These errors were defined by the authors as “nonremediable errors that invalidated or markedly weakened the conclusions of the study.” It is interesting to note that one of the minor errors included in the manuscript was a misspelling of the drug’s name. Out of the 203 reviewers, 30 were convinced in the correctness of the misspelled name and used it throughout their interview. The authors of the study said about the results (with the usual scientific undertone): “the small number of errors identified by the reviewers in this study was surprising. The major errors placed in the manuscript invalidated or undermined each of the major methodologic steps of the study The identification of even a fraction of these errors should have indicated that the study was unsalvageable, yet the reviewers identified only 34% of these errors, and only 59% of the reviewers rejected the work.”

Points to consider:
1. In this study, the reviewers were professors and private practice physicians with an average of 3 years experience as reviewers for the Annals and additional years of experience reviewing scientific manuscripts for 2 other scientific journals, and with 10 years of experience practicing emergency medicine. These reviewers possess a much higher level of expertise in the subject of the tested manuscript relative to even the most experienced market researchers analyzing qualitative customer data, the most experienced human resource managers analyzing candidate data, the lawyers analyzing patents, or the investment analysts and consultants analyzing business data. So, if professors and physicians failed to recognize major errors in a standard scientific manuscript, what are the chances that the less trained professionals will identify gaps and inconsistencies in non-standard qualitative business data?

2. In this study, the professors were expected to identify the technical errors found in the manuscript. The identification and elimination of this type of errors is the objective of the years of training undergone by every scientist. Unlike this study, the great majority of qualitative studies in business include psychological gaps and inconsistencies, and unlike scientists, most other professionals receive little to no training in the identifying psychological errors. If the professors failed to identify most of the technical errors, what are the chances that the less trained professionals be successful in identifying the much more challenging psychological errors?

3. How worried should you be when a market researcher is analyzing your focus groups? A typical focus group holds about 12,000 words. An average manuscript holds about 3,000 words, much less than a single focus group. A typical market research study consists of 4-8 focus groups, or 16 to 32 times more text. So, if the experts in this study failed to identify most of the technical errors in a volume of data equivalent to one forth of a single focus group, what are the chances that a market researcher will identify the psychological inconsistencies (and intellectual inconsistencies) with a much larger dataset?

4. How worried should you be when a human resource manager is analyzing a pool of candidates? A transcript of a one hour interview holds about 6,000 words (when hiring middle and top managers, the interviews might take a whole day with an order of magnitude more words). When interviewing a few candidates, the total data may include 30,000 or more words (for 5 candidates). So, if the experts in this study failed to identify the major inconsistencies in a volume of data equivalent one half of a single interview, what are the chances that a human resource manager will identify the major inconsistencies with a much larger dataset?

5. How worried should you be when an investment analyst is analyzing some companies for you? An annual report might include tens of thousand of words. For instance, the IBM 2004 annual report is 100 pages long and includes more than 65,000 words. So, if the experts in this study failed to identify the major problems in a dataset that holds less than 5% of the data included in the IBM 2004 annual report, what are the chances that an investment analyst will identify the major problems hidden in the much larger dataset?

Summary:
The Baxt, et. al. study shows that professors and physicians, who are highly trained professionals, most frequently fail to identify major technical errors in a standard qualitative dataset, and as a result arrive at the wrong decision. What are the chances that the less trained professionals will outperform the professors at identifying the more challenging psychological gaps and inconsistencies in a much larger non-standard dataset? And, when the professional analysts fail, what are the chances that, although misdirected, you still make the right decision?

Spiegel Grove, the Largest Florida Keys Shipwreck for Scuba Divers

December 29, 2011

The latest shipwreck dive.site in the Florida Keys for scuba divers is the USS Spiegel Grove. This is a former US Navy Landing Ship Dock that was sunk in 2002 to create an artificial reef in Key Largo, much like the Duane and Bibb ships were in the same general area. The Spiegel Grove is 510 feet in length and 84 feet wide making it the largest of the shipwrecks accessible to scuba divers in the Florida Keys. This wreck sits at a depth of 134 feet near Dixie Shoals and the depth at the highest point of the ship is about 60 to 65 feet depending on the tide level.

The Spiegel Grove had been lying on her starboard side after initial sinking and was reported to be a great dive. Hurricane Denis which greatly affected the south Florida area, actually made this wreck dive even better. The waves and surges from the hurricane were strong enough to push the entire ship to an upright position much like how the Duane is sitting. This resulted in better orientation of the ship for scuba divers especially since there are some swim throughs located throughout the wreck.

Most of the scuba dive operators in Key Largo have dive trips to the Spiegel Grove since this site is the latest rage in the local scuba diving. Since it is a deep dive, advance certification is required. Scuba divers can also dive the Spiegel Grove as part of their advance certification course. The dive plan for this wreck is very similar to that of the Duane. The dive site is often in an area with heavy currents so as soon as divers jump in the water, they have to go grab a line and pull themselves towards the front of the dive boat where the line is attached to the descent line. Divers then pull themselves down towards the wreck. Unlike the Duane which has descent lines on both ends of the ship, the Spiegel Grove has three lines since it is a much larger ship. The ascent and safety stop is on these same lines since the currents can be strong at any depth. It is highly recommended that any cameras and other devices are secured by lanyards since losing them in these currents is possible.

As one descends on the Spiegel Grove, one will see just how large this ship is. This will keep many divers excited. Lots of divers in the area have dived the Spiegel Grove before and are only happy to dive it again to explore the different compartments accessible in the wreck. This ship is also unique as it has a large crane in the stern area since it was used as a landing ship dock. For enthusiasts interested in the beauty of shipwrecks themselves, this will be considered a great dive. The only downside to this dive is the amount of marine life on the wreck. Barracuda, large angelfish and other fish can be spotted on the Spiegel Grove but not nearly as many as on the Duane. This is why some divers may still prefer the Duane over the Spiegel Grove if marine life is their primary interest in scuba diving. But the Spiegel Grove is still a relatively new dive site compared to the Duane so in time, the amount of marine life will increase at this site making it even better in the future. Both the Spiegel Grove and the Duane are highly recommended dives for all scuba divers with a minimum of advance certification when diving in the Key Largo area.

Is Money Really The Root of All Evil?

December 29, 2011

Aril 28, 2006
As you are well aware, we live in financially challenging times. If you do not agree with this statement, don’t bother to keep reading this article.

Times are changing, the financial market is up, it’s down – a roller coaster. Gas Prices just hit $3 per gallon in the US. Your salary stayed the same.

Have you heard the expression: Money is the root of all evil?

No, it is not money that is evil. Money is neutral, it is a barter item so that we can buy the things we think we cannot live without. Money is also a symbol: a symbol of appreciation, a gesture.

So why do we say that “money’s the root of all evil”? because it is the negative emotions around money that are evil: greed, avarice, an obsession of power etc. Wouldn’t it be better if we said “The love of money is the root of all evil”?

So what really is money?

To many people in this world, money is energy, just as life is.

Money is also a feeling: feeling of wealth, feeling of security, feeling of success. Money can also be a feeling of importance and a feeling of power.

In other words, money is important. We need money to eat and cloth ourselves. We need money to communte to work; pay our employees; invest in the stock market to make more money (or loose it if we buy unwise)

Money = abudance. Abundance is natural. There is a difference between being aware of our natural abundance and owning a good portion of it. Many well-know speakers explain it as the art of controlling your energy and manifesting your thoughts and ideas. Most of us are not well aquainted with this idea of having to manifest in order to achieve.

Manifesting is really a innermost wish. And most people on earth wish formost for ……

Abundance, Wealth, Financial Freedom

So how do we achieve this? We need to be close to money. Often our relationship to money follows a push-pull or love-hate pattern, similar to our human relationship (s).

Naturally, the closer you are to a person, the more likely you are to be able to receive what they have to give. It is very similar to your financial situation: the closer you are to money, the more likely you are to receive plenty of it. You must be intellectually, emotionally and physically ready in order to receive abundantly.

Many people resent money because they feel life hasn’t been fair to them, that they worked hard and haven’t received as much as they should have – or they are paid less than other people with inferior qualities to them. Is that you?

Change your thought pattern. Rather than blaming others or displaying your unease, lack, anger about money, begin to own your feelings. Understand where you want to go, what you are trying to achieve. Ask yourself: “Do I have enough information about the marketplace, the deal, the j.o.b, the particular area of creativity, the person I want to be involved in(with)?”

In order to answer this question, you may have to go beyond your own resistance, shyness or inhibition and start looking at your goal.

In other words
-know what you doing
-be aware of of what’s or who is up or down
-know what’s happening and what isn’t

Money is important because it is a symbol of your mastery and comprehension of life’s great journey.

Adolescent Anger Management Strategies

December 29, 2011

Adolescent anger management is becoming more prominent in our society. Traditionally, children who enter this last acute phase of bodily and mental development can go through some rough times. As kids enter their preteen and then their teenage years, chaos can ensue at times for everyone involved. A child or young adult may feel that his or her body and mind are out of control occasionally, and the parents and teachers who supervise children at this age may tend to agree. Anger can spring out of nowhere to challenge innocent requests and reasonable expectations. Yet kids between the age of twelve and sixteen sometimes react in unpredictable ways, surprising those around them and even themselves and requiring the intervention of adolescent anger management strategies.

Todays teens face even greater pressures than those of the past. By age eighteen, most have witnessed thousands of murders on television and video games. Some are involved in violent or illegal gang activity. Others come from broken homes where domestic violence and substance abuse are the norm. By the time they start going through puberty, their entire existence may seem out of their control, and they may grow increasingly enraged, acting out their anger in antisocial ways that require adolescent anger management.

Adolescent Anger Management and Juvenile Delinquents

Sadly, many teens experience frustrations that drive them to vent anger toward people or things, breaking civil laws. This type of behavior often leads to incarceration, or at the very least, intervention by parents, teachers, law enforcement officials, and juvenile experts who attempt to train children how to respond in age-appropriate ways. Adolescent anger management programs teach kids individually or in peer groups how to identify negative feelings, work through them in the right kind of ways, seek help when needed, and practice more mature behaviors.

During periods of time spent at juvenile detention centers, teens involved in adolescent anger management programs can learn how to improve their behavior in socially acceptable ways. Therapists can help to point out alternative attitudes and behaviors to teens who have never seen positive responses to everyday irritations modeled for them by responsible adults. They may be able to learn directly from the therapist how to manage difficult feelings, and they can read resource materials or visit websites like anger-management-information.com (site is not complete yet) for more information about this condition, and how to address it. They will find others like themselves who are learning how to get along with people and accept the situations that cannot be changed.

Community Adolescent Anger Management Programs

If you have or work with a teenager that is struggling with angry outbursts and a poor attitude, get in touch with a teacher or psychologist at your childs school or a community social services organization that can direct you to self-help resources or a local adolescent anger management group that might be willing to admit your child. Letting unresolved anger fester or continue to be displayed in dangerous ways can lead to serious consequences. Get your teen the help that is needed for coping with this behavioral disorder.

What Do Chuzzle, Jewel Quest And Fairies Have In Common And Why Are They So Fun?

December 29, 2011

Three of the most popular online games out there, Chuzzle, Jewel Quest and Fairies, may appear to be quite different, but in reality, share a very similar game architecture and strategy component. Whats different? They all have a unique theme and visual appearance. With Chuzzle, its the cute little fuzzy characters. With Jewel Quest, its all about turning sand into gold, and with Fairies, its rescuing the whimsical and hunted fairy ladies. All appealing, and all extremely addictive!

So what are these games really all about?

Chuzzle

This relatively new and extremely fun puzzle game features rows of fuzzy Chuzzles that you must drag up and down, and left and right, to match a variety of colors. Once you do, the Chuzzles will pop in dramatic fashion and return to their little test-tube home. Choose from four play modes: Zen mode, Speed mode, Classic Chuzzle and Mind Bendex mode. It also features two difficulty levels.

If youre good, and make a high level of Chuzzle color matches, you get to go on to the next level where the game gets tougher, the Chuzzle locks come more frequently. But theres an upside – the bonuses get higher.

So whats the verdict on Chuzzle? Its a super fun game with non-stop action and lots of exciting pops! If you havent tried it, give it a whirl!

Jewel Quest

Like Chuzzle, the object of Jewel Quest from iWin is to score as many points as possible by matching items and turning sand to gold. However, with this game, there are six different items that need to be lined up horizontally or vertically in groups of 3 or more. Once you do, you have a match! What happens then? The matched items are removed and new items will fall into the empty spaces from the top of the board.

A few key points to keep in mind with Jewel Quest:

- Making moves in rapid succession will give you a higher score.
- Matching both items that you swap and in multiple directions can result in the best chain reactions.
- Matching items towards the bottom of the board gives more opportunity for chain reactions.
- The most difficult spaces to turn into gold are the four corner spaces.

Your Jewel Quest journal will help give you the wisdom of the ancient scripts and assist you in discovering the fabled Tonatiuh – The Temple of the Fifth Sun. And it will also give you hours and hours of fun!

Fairies

Have you ever been to a Renaissance Fair? Well then, perhaps you will enjoy Fairies. This appealing online game takes you to a place of fabled legends and magical reality. You become the almighty and powerful wizard, given the rare chance to rescue the troubled group of fairies? who have been captured by an evil force.

Again, like Chuzzle and Jewel Quest, youll see the similarities. But, with its whimsical, other-world feel, its more different than alike. With Fairies, you are seemingly transported to this other world and asked to be the hero. The question is, will you save the troubled fairies? And how many will you save? If you complete the hundred individual levels, youll be sure to restore balance to their world and have a ton of fun in the process!

So, what specifically do these great games have in common?

They are all classic match-style games. Simply put, your job is to find the commonality between the individual pieces, and put them together. Why is this basic premise so mentally stimulating? Because our brains are conditioned this way in the first place. Its one of the key qualities our mental faculties possess to help us make sense of the world. Grouping things together into their rightful places is an important skill to use and get good at. Think about it: when youre putting groceries away, what are you doing? When you plan your Saturday schedule with the kids, what are you doing? When youre deciding what to wear in the morning, how are you going about it? Thats right you are putting things together in logical places, in logical order or the way you think things will compliment other things.

The popularity of these games continues. Other games like Super Collapse III have similar game play, and with the third edition to the Super Collapse series coming out, these games continue to earn the interest and dedication of game playing fans.

Why are Chuzzle, Jewel Quest and Fairies so fun?

Charming graphics, simple strategy, catchy music and they relax and stimulate your mind at the same time. A great escape!

Going Public by Way of Regulation D (504) Offering…

December 28, 2011

Under the Securities Act of 1933, any offer to sell securities must either be registered with the SEC or meet an exemption. Regulation D (or Reg D) provides three exemptions from the registration requirements, allowing some smaller companies to offer and sell their securities without having to register the securities with the SEC.

Rule 504 or Regulation D provides an exemption from the registration of the federal securities laws.for some companies when they offer and sell up to $1,000,000.00 of their securities in any 12 month period.

A company can use this exemption so long as it is not a Blank Check company and does not have to file reports under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Also, the exemption generally does not allow companies to solicit or advertise their securities to the public, and purchasers receive restricted securities, meaning that they may not sell the securities without registration or an applicable exemption.

Rule 504 does allow companies to make a public offering of freely tradable securities but only if one of the following circumstances is met:

(1) The company registers the offering exclusively in one or more states that require a publicly filed registration statement and delivery of a substantive disclosure document to investors

(2) A company registers and sells the offering in a state that requires registration and disclosure delivery and also sells in a state without those requirements, so long as the company delivers the disclosure documents required by the state where the company registered the offering to all purchasers (including those in the state that has no such requirements) or

(3) The company sells exclusively according to state law exemptions that permit general solicitation and advertising, so long as the company sells only to “accredited investors.

An accredited investor is defined by federal securities law as:

. a bank, insurance company, registered investment company, business development company, or small business investment company

. an employee benefit plan, within the meaning of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, if a bank, insurance company, or registered investment adviser makes the investment decisions, or if the plan has total assets in excess of $5 million

. a charitable organization, corporation, or partnership with assets exceeding $5 million

. a director, executive officer, or general partner of the company selling the securities

. a business in which all the equity owners are accredited investors

. a natural person who has individual net worth, or joint net worth with the persons spouse, that exceeds $1 million at the time of the purchase

. a natural person with income exceeding $200,000 in each of the two most recent years or joint income with a spouse exceeding $300,000 for those years and a reasonable expectation of the same income level in the current year or

. Any trust with total assets in excess of $5,000,000, not formed for the specific purpose of acquiring the securities offered, whose purchase of the securities is directed by a person who has such knowledge and experience in financial and business matters that he is capable of evaluating the merits and risks of the prospective investment.

. even if a company makes a private sale where there are no specific disclosure delivery requirements, a company should take care to provide sufficient information to investors to avoid violating the anti fraud provisions of the securities laws. This means that any information a company provides to investors must be free from false or misleading statements. Similarly, a company should not exclude any information if the omission makes what is provided to investors false or misleading.

Any information provided to an investor whether written or oral must be accurate in order not to violate the anti fraud provision,All securities offerings are subject to this provision.

This process provide a far less expensive way to take your company public than the traditional IPO, and it also provide a much faster track to having your companys shares listed and trading.

The Regulation D (504) offering is one method of going public we recommend to our clients, we normally conduct a review of the company to see if going public is a viable option for them.

Digital Cameras: The New Generation

December 28, 2011

With the advent of modern scientific tools, life has become highly sophisticated. There has been a significant evolution in the technology and the lifestyles of the human beings. One of the fine examples of evolution is the advent and craze for digital camera.. A digital camera is equipped with an electronic photosensitive sensor. The photographs are stored digitally in the in-built memory of the camera and can be directly uploaded on a computer for viewing and printing. There is no need for buying films or getting them processed with these modern gadgets.

The craze for using the cameras can be traced back to the 16th century. Man has used the cameras to capture the history or larger-than-life-events. As the science has expanded in this ever-shrinking world, the expansion of camera technology has soared to new heights. From the normal camera, the world has stepped into the era of digital cameras. These cameras have brought in a complete revolution in the camera industry.

The features of digital camera are so unique and advanced, that handling the camera has become a childs play. Before you go and buy your digital camera, you should know some basic information on these modern weapons. You must pick the right camera to capture your precious moments.

How a Digital Camera Works

The basic difference between a digital camera and normal camera is that a normal camera uses a film to store the photographic images, while a digital camera uses an in-built memory to store the photographs in digital format. The lens of the digital camera focuses the light directly on to a semiconductor device. This device records the light electronically. The computer then breaks and stores this electronic data into digital data, which gets stored in the memory of the camera and can be transferred on to a computer.

Charge Coupled Device (CCD) is employed as the image sensors in the digital cameras. These charge coupled devices are responsible for converting the light into electronic forms. The CCD is made up of light sensitive diodes which accumulate electrons when hit by a beam of light. The prominently used CCDs are the triple CCD cameras. The product of these cameras is superb as the three CCDs react separately to the three basic colors such as red, blue and green. The end result is fantastic. These electronic symbols are then stored as digital data in the digital camera.

Buying a Digital Camera

The modern market is booming with various types of digital cameras. Digital cameras vary in function and most of all their mega pixel quality. If you plan to buy a digital camera, prior information about digital cameras would be an added advantage.

First of all you should figure out your need for buying a digital camera. The need for a digital camera helps you narrow your search for the best camera, suited to your requirements. You might want to buy a digital camera for posting photographs on the net, using photos for professional graphics work, to get a better-quality photographs and much more.

Next thing you should determine is the resolution you require in a digital camera. There are broadly 5 classifications of resolutions for digital cameras. These resolutions are expressed as mega-pixels. The higher the resolution of a camera, the better quality photograph it will produce. There are cameras available with 6 and 7 mega-pixels however, anything above 4 mega-pixels will produce really great photos.

Now buying a digital camera should be easy!

The Yankees-Red Sox rivalry qualifies under both of these categories.

December 28, 2011

A New York-Boston bout is the greatest feud in all of sports. No other match up in professional sports offers as much history, hostility, and competition as when the Yanks and Sox assemble and prepare to battle. Where else can you see a 73-year-old coach thrown to the ground by the opposing teams ace pitcher? The only place to catch such action and intensity is in the Bronx or at Fenway Park. The New York-Boston hatred is unmatched in professional sports and is something baseball needs to survive in an era marked by an asterisk.

During a time in baseball in which many spectators are left feeling bamboozled due to accusations of performance enhancing drug use, the sport needs something to pull itself out of the gutter. The one thing that can revive Americas hallmark pastime is the grudge match between the Evil Empire and the formerly cursed BoSox.

Whether it be George Steinbrenner calling out his own club or the opposing Sox, you can guarantee that whatever the outcome is, it will be historic. Anytime these two teams meet for an American League East war, the fire starts to rekindle in fans eyes.

No other duel in sports has created such abhorrence between two cities as the Yankees and Red Sox have. No other rivalry has been a catalyst for causing two members of the grounds crew to jump into the visiting bullpen to try to take on Jeff Nelson and Karim Garcia as we have seen in the 2003 ALCS at Fenway Park.

The Yankees and Red Sox have an historic, and at the same time, a maniacal, relationship. The bitter vengeance between these two teams is something that needs to be present in order for baseball to survive. Every person in America is sick of hearing about Barry Bonds, BALCO, and every other mind numbing steroid allegation that has been regurgitated over and over again in the past few months. Yankees-Red Sox games are the perfect way for fans to regain appreciation for the sport by recognizing the great history between the two teams.

Even in May, when games do not carry as much weight as they do at the end of the season, New York against Boston is a big deal. Early season match ups between the two teams always pressure players into bringing their A game to the ballpark and allow fans of the respective cities to gain bragging rights.

There are other great rivalries all throughout sports, but none of them contain the gusto and all pale in comparison to the zeal that is brought to the table when Joe Torres squad goes up against Terry Franconas. No other rivalry has as rich a history and deep disdain as the saga that is brought on when Bean-town comes to the Bronx or vice versa, and quite frankly, there never will be another rivalry that is half as great.

Odds on the Yankees to win this weeks series were 5/8 @ http://www.WagerWeb.com
